Hi, my name’s Teresa, and this is my husband, Gareth. We’ve been with Caliber for more than 10 years and we’ve had the same adviser since we started – Gary Vista Thorne. He’s been brilliant.

We decided to take advice as I was approaching retirement. We had a number of pensions with different providers, and we wanted to understand what we needed to do with those to be able to maximise our earnings during our retirement.

We wanted to get everything into one easy system so that we could plan for our retirement and hopefully live to the same standard as we’d been used to while we were working.
When we decided we needed an adviser, I looked on the internet and at some review sites for personal advisers in our area. We had a look at a few of them, and Caliber’s reviews were excellent. Gary came round to our house to sit and have a chat with us; we were very impressed with him and the company, and we went from there.

Having Caliber makes me feel confident that our financial situation is being watched over. We’re not having to keep an eye on it, and that’s such a difficult thing to do, especially in the world as it is today. You know that you’ve got true professionals who’re keeping an eye on all your investments, they ask you about your risk level, what you’re happy with and what you’re not happy with, and they constantly ask about this, so you can change your mind if you want to be a little bit more risk-averse than you are normally. So, as far as we’re concerned, it gives us absolute confidence that they’re there for us.

Financially, looking forward, we both got a high level of confidence that the monies that we’ve been able to put aside in pensions, ISAs, and other things are going to bear fruit, and that’s in no small part due to Gary and the advice he’s given.

Three words I’d use to describe Gary are professional, totally knowledgeable, and a very lovely, approachable guy.

The best piece of advice has been where to invest and asking questions that are relevant to our situation that I certainly wouldn’t have thought of. It helps you focus on what you need to do financially moving forward.
I think, for me, the best thing about working with Caliber is Gary. We’ve only got one adviser, and we’ve been with him all the time, so you build up a relationship, and I value that a lot.
